Entry Level Referee Clinics (Administered by BC Soccer)
(This is the clinic you want to take if you are looking to become a registered referee in British Columbia)
The Entry Level Referee Clinic is the entry point into 11 a-side soccer. Once an individual is successful in passing this clinic they will be classified as a BCSA/CSA Youth/District referee.
The goal of this three day clinic is to ensure that individuals who pass are capable to be either a Referee or/an Assistant Referee in 11 a-side soccer. This is done with experienced referee instructors who use video educational material and practical on-field training sessions. The topics covered include, but are not limited to the Laws of the Game, Positioning, Signals, Administration of the game, and Pre-Match Preparation & Match Reporting. First year’s BCSA registration fees are included.
This clinic is also appropriate for coaches or other individuals who wish to gain a more thorough understanding of the Laws of the Game and their practical application, and codes of conduct and ethics governing officiating.
HCFC is hosting an entry level course on August 29-31 2016
Small Sided Games Referee ClinicsThe Small Sided Games Referee Clinic covers the basics of refereeing and is offered to individuals who are no less than 12 years of age. Once an individual is successful in passing this clinic, they are classified as a Small Sided Games Referee and may officiate up to U12/13 small sided or Super 8 matches.
HCFC is hosting one small-sided refereeing course on Sept 1 2016
Small Sided and Entry Level refereeing are the first steps in progression from Youth/District to Regional, Provincial, National and ultimately FIFA designations. HCFC is supporting this development model by sponsoring Small Sided and Entry Level Programs involving continuing education, mentoring and fitness training for young athletes. Program fees cover clinic enrollment fees, referee kit and equipment packages and training for which a receipt will be issued. Please drop by the HCFC Soccer office during posted hours of operation to sign up or to obtain more information on enrolling for the courses and these refereeing programs.
HCFC also supports other on-going BCSA development programs by hosting annual Refresher Clinics. Attending these courses are required for all 11-aside referees to complete their annual re-certification, in the years after taking the Entry Level Course.
HCFC is hosting two Refresher Clinics on Sept 1 and Sept 16 2016.
All interested individuals may also register directly online at the BCSA website under Referee Courses, for all Entry Level, Small-Sided and Refresher Courses.
